Membership in the national organization represents both the public recognition of accomplishment and the private commitment to continued excellence. You will receive a letter if you are eligible in the area of scholarship. If selected, you will be expected to be an active participant and uphold the expectations of the NHS. NHS Applications Now Open
The Chapel Hill High School Chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) is now accepting applications for the 2025-2026 school year! Eligible rising 10th, 11th, and 12th graders who exemplify Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character are encouraged to apply.
Eligibility Requirements:
GPA of 3.75 or higher
Strong character and attendance record
Application Timeline:
Candidate packets distributed: March 11-14
Applications & recommendations due: March 28 by 3:30 PM
Selection review: March 31 - April 18
Notifications sent: April 21-25
Induction ceremony: TBA

Membership
Eligibility Criteria:
Sophomore, junior, or senior class members with a minimum GPA of 3.75 (AS OF 2025).
Attendance at Chapel Hill High School.
Evaluation based on scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
Membership Process:
Academic records are reviewed for eligibility.
Eligible candidates submit an NHS application.
Faculty evaluations and a Faculty Council review finalize selections.
Dues: $20 annually, payable within 30 days of induction.

Activities and Service
Service Requirements:
30 service hours annually (20 in the school total, 10 in the community)
Projects: Members participate in two or more service projects per semester, fulfilling school or community needs.
Meetings
Held on the 2nd Wednesday of every month.
Attendance of at least 75% is required to remain in good standing.
Recognition and Awards
Members achieving all requirements are recognized with graduation stoles.
Leadership opportunities available to all active, paid members.
